Catinga de Mulata is the popular name for a plant called Macassá. It is an aromatic and medicinal plant of African origin, but also naturalized in Brazil. Found primerily in Nigeria, South Sudan, Kenya, and South Africa, it is known for its coconut-like aroma and its medicinal and ritual properties. Its spirit is represented in the plant kingdom as an annual herbaceous plant which grows up to 20–50 cm tall.

The leaves are very aromatic and are used to flavor cosmetics. Due to its strong scent it is known as an aromatic spice as well besides functioning as medicinal plant for beings in need for healing.

Catinga de Mulata is recognized for its purifying properties, helping to eliminate toxins from the body.
